Smokies is a restaurant and bar in Madarao, Nagano which can cater for families, solo travellers and party goers alike.

We're inside the blue Peppermint House, a couple of minutes walk from the lift base at Madarao Kogen.

Come in off the slopes for proper comfort food and a cold drink. Stay on when the party starts. Our nights have the queue out the door and into the snow whilst the vibes are at an all time high.

Early evenings tend to be families and people grabbing dinner after a day on the mountain. After 9pm it can turn into more of a night out, with live music and a proper dance floor depending on the night. Come for either one, or stick around for both.

The kitchen, the bar, our demo boards and the local intel on where to ride for the next powder day all live under one roof, so there is always a reason to drop in.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What are your hours? 5pm till late, seven days a week. Please note Monday nights are walk in only and no reservations will be taken.

Do I need to book a table? Walk-ins are welcome, but it's worth booking ahead since we fill up fast. We don't take bookings on Monday nights.

Is it good for families? Yes, we welcome families and larger groups. If you have a large group, try to book with as much notice as possible for the best chance of a table that size. The most common time for families in Smokies is between 5:00pm and 6:30pm
